Signs that the boiler needs to be flushed and disinfected
Boiler flushing and disinfection is a comprehensive service aimed at keeping water heating equipment clean and hygienic. Regular cleaning of scale, rust and bacterial contamination prolongs the life of the boiler, increases its efficiency and ensures the safety of hot water.
You can tell if your boiler needs flushing by looking at the following signs:
Increased water heating time
Reduced hot water temperature at the same settings
Increased consumption of electricity or gas
Extraneous sounds during boiler operation (humming, crackling)
Appearance of a rusty tint or impurities in hot water
Unpleasant odor from the hot water tap
Frequent operation of the overheating protection
Leaks at joints
It's been over a year since the last flush
Failure to flush regularly can lead to serious problems, including complete failure of the boiler equipment, resulting in significantly higher financial costs.

What is boiler flushing and disinfection?
Flushing and disinfecting the boiler - is a comprehensive procedure for cleaning the internal surfaces of the water heater from scale, limescale, rust and bacteria. This service is critical to maintaining efficient equipment operation, extending the life of the equipment and ensuring the safety of the hot water supply.
During the operation of a boiler, mineral deposits form on its internal walls and heating elements. This happens especially quickly in regions with hard water. A layer of scale only 1 mm thick reduces heat transfer by 10-15%, which leads to energy overconsumption and increased water heating time. In addition, harmful microorganisms, including Legionella, which can cause dangerous diseases, can multiply in the standing water of a water heater.
Our company performs professional flushing and disinfection of boilers of all types: electric, gas, flow and storage. We use specialized equipment and certified reagents that effectively remove contaminants without damaging the internal components of the water heater.
Types of boiler flushing and disinfection
Depending on the type of boiler, the degree of contamination and your needs, we offer different cleaning methods:
- Mechanical descaling of the heating element;
- Chemical flushing of the tank and piping;
- Hydrodynamic washing;
- Comprehensive disinfection.
We select the method depending on the condition of the boiler and the model.
Mechanical washing
Mechanical flushing - removal of large and medium-sized deposits using special brushes and tools. It is used as primary cleaning before chemical treatment.
Chemical washing
Chemical flushing - use of special acidic or alkaline solutions to dissolve scale and remove mineral deposits. Effectively cleans heat exchangers and heating elements.
Hydrodynamic washing
Hydrodynamic flushing - cleaning of the internal surfaces of the boiler with high pressure water. It allows the removal of dense deposits without the use of aggressive chemicals.
Comprehensive disinfection
Comprehensive disinfection - treatment of the internal surfaces of the boiler with special disinfectants to kill bacteria, fungi and other pathogens.
Our experts will select the best cleaning method based on the condition of your boiler and the water supply in your area.

Do I need to change the anode when flushing the boiler?
The magnesium or titanium anode is a consumable item and must be replaced periodically. When the boiler is flushed, the condition of the anode is assessed - if it is more than 50% worn out, replacement is recommended. On average, anode life is 1-2 years depending on water quality and intensity of boiler use.
Are chemical flushing agents safe?
We use only certified professional products that effectively descale and disinfect the boiler without damaging its internal components. After the chemical treatment, the boiler is thoroughly rinsed with clean water to remove any residual chemicals. All work is carried out in compliance with safety standards.
How often should the boiler be disinfected?
It is recommended to disinfect every 1-2 years, especially if the boiler is used for drinking water.
Why sanitize the boiler?
A tank is a warm and humid environment where dangerous bacteria, including Legionella, can breed. Disinfection keeps the water safe.
How to remove bad odor from the boiler?
If the water in your boiler smells like hydrogen sulfide or has a musty odor, these methods will help:
- Water aeration - installing a treatment system will remove the odor of hydrogen sulfide and iron.
- Disinfection and heating - treat the boiler with hypochloride, then heat the water to 60-65Β°C. Once a month turn on the disinfection mode (70Β°C+) for a few hours.
- Check circulation - if there is no hot water circulation, install an additional line.
- Replacing the anode - the old magnesium anode can cause odor. Replace it with a titanium anode (durable but expensive).
These measures will help return the water to freshness and get rid of the odor in the boiler.
